I thought that Chats (GNOME Chatty) is an SMS app, but it actually supports Matrix and XMPP too. So I can join discussions on the postmarketOS Matrix server from postmarketOS devices. Cool.
@omasanori Pidgin also supports many protocols, but it doesn't seem to support matrix.
@eexpss beeper supports many protocols, avaliable for desktop and mobiles and is based on Matris. @omasanori
@limping @omasanori The first time I heard about Beeper, it went crazy and supports all protocols.
@omasanori hadn't heard of Chatty before. Gonna have to play with it! Thanks for posting
And we're about to cut a new release which brings lots of stability improvements to the matrix side!
@devrtz Excellent! Thanks a lot!
@omasanori That _is_ cool!
Unfortunately, XMPP has been looking for someone to help maintain it for a while: https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Chatty/-/issues/842
and if the situation doesn't change, we will likely just drop support for it.
@omasanori There are some other clients you can use as well, for example Fractal and Nheko work pretty well in my experience.
@omasanori dino can manage calls/video.. does chatty too?
@tkr I have not tested video call, nor tried Dino. Thanks for the info!
