It will soon turn 3 years since I announced[1] OpenBSD will ship binary packages updates for release users. :flan_ooh:

This may seem ridiculous compared to other OS shipping binary updates since forever but it was a huge improvement for us.

@solene … and I, for one, am immensely grateful for your effort each and every time pkg_add -u grabs something new, especially in the critical packages like BIND9, ClamAV, Dovecot.

My only "request" would be that there was an RSS feed I could subscribe to. I am not really sure where to look to find out if something new has been released.

@cynicalsecurity @solene I’ll second both, though I’ve solved the latter with a cron job that sends me an email every night.

@taf @solene but do you hit the mirrors and check for changes every night? I don't want to put more weight on the infrastructure…

@cynicalsecurity @solene I hit a local mirror that I’m certain has the capacity at the time my cron job runs. Knowing the admins helps with that part. But push rather than pull would be a better way to get the information.

@taf @solene why don’t we set up an rss service? We could use your cron to pull the new stuff, I am happy to set up a webpage for it, and we help everyone in the community?
